GT CUP SERIES delivers action-packed Racing Journal Speed Fest at Autodrom Most

Most, Czech Republic – The GT CUP SERIES returned to action last weekend at Autodrom Most as part of the Racing Journal Speed Fest, delivering an exciting race weekend full of close battles, changing weather conditions and dramatic moments on track.

The unpredictable weather throughout Saturday created exactly the kind of challenge expected in GT racing. Rain showers alternated with periods of sunshine, forcing teams and drivers to be fully prepared for both wet and dry conditions. The changing track conditions added another layer of excitement and produced spectacular racing for fans watching at the circuit and online.

Sprint Race 1: Milota takes victory after dramatic opening laps

The opening sprint race of the weekend started behind the Safety Car due to the challenging weather conditions. Once the Safety Car returned to the pit lane, the real battle began immediately.

Pole position holder Miro Konopka faced early pressure from Libor Milota, who attempted an overtaking move in the first corner. However, it was Dennis Waszek who perfectly anticipated the situation and took advantage of the battle ahead to move into the lead.

Waszek’s advantage was short-lived, however. In the following sector, he outbraked himself entering a corner and went into the gravel trap, losing several positions. What followed was an impressive recovery drive, as he fought his way back through the field to finish third overall while securing victory in his class.

At the front, Libor Milota remained composed and controlled the race until the chequered flag, securing the overall victory. Newcomer Anthony Pretorius from Mičánek Motorsport impressed with a mature and controlled performance, taking a well-deserved second place.

The race also produced exciting battles in the D5 division between Miro Konopka and Petr Koukola from Janík Motorsport, as well as intense competition in the GT4 category.

Unfortunately, Antonín Herbeck was unable to take part in the race after an incident during qualifying. Driving his Ferrari 488 GT3, the experienced driver went off track and made contact with the barriers, causing damage that prevented the car from starting the race. In motorsport, searching for the limits inevitably brings risk, and incidents like this are part of racing. The most important news is that Antonín is safe, and we hope the Rock Robots team will be able to prepare the Ferrari for the upcoming events, where he can once again demonstrate his speed and experience.

Endurance Race: Team ISR dominates as Milota leads from start to finish

For the endurance race, the weather conditions improved significantly, with the entire race taking place on a dry track. From the very beginning, Libor Milota demonstrated impressive pace and control behind the wheel of the Audi R8 GT3, establishing himself at the front of the field.

One of the favourites of the weekend, Miro Konopka with his LMP3 prototype, suffered an unfortunate setback immediately after the start. Contact in the first chicane damaged the front bumper of his Ligier LMP3, forcing an unscheduled pit stop for repairs. The delay dropped him down the order, but he fought back strongly throughout the race and eventually secured ninth place overall.

The endurance race victory went to Team ISR with Libor Milota, followed by the RTR Projects pairing of Mráz and Honzík in second place. The podium was completed by Mičánek Motorsport with the driver pairing of Knoll and Sládečka.

The race also featured a dramatic moment involving the H&R Spezialfedern BMW M4 GT3, which suffered a technical issue affecting the rear axle. The failure caused the car to lose control and make contact with the barriers. Fortunately, the incident did not result in injury.

The GT4 category once again proved to be one of the highlights of the weekend. A strong and growing field of cars provided close and competitive racing, with many new drivers and competitors from both the Czech Republic and Slovakia joining the grid. The increasing number of GT4 participants confirms the growing popularity of the category within the GT CUP SERIES.

The mandatory pit stop procedures during the endurance race were handled extremely well by all teams. Most crews managed their stops with great precision, avoiding unnecessary time losses and demonstrating excellent preparation and professionalism.

Sprint Race 2: Milota continues winning form

The second sprint race of the weekend once again delivered intense battles across the field, particularly in the GT4 category where the close competition continued.

Matej Hlavatý from GT SPORTS was forced to retire early due to technical issues, while an incident between Expres Auto Racing and BA Motorsport changed the outcome of the GT4 battle. The contact sent Selinšek from BA Motorsport into the gravel trap, preventing him from continuing the race.

Following a decision by the sporting stewards, Expres Racing received a penalty, which resulted in the team losing its second-place finish in the category and dropping to fourth position.

At the front of the field, Libor Milota once again demonstrated his pace and consistency, securing another confident victory ahead of Dennis Waszek and Anthony Pretorius.
