The final Saturday race at Slovakia Ring was the traditional one-hour endurance contest in GT Cup Series. The race was interrupted by safety cars both at the beginning and at the end, but that didn’t stop the Aries Racing crew of Rudolf Beňo and Richard Gonda from taking GT3 class victory.
On the front row, Miro Konopka (Ligier LMP3) lined up alongside Coach McKansy/Gerhard Tweraser (Lamborghini). Behind them were Stanislav Jedliński/Krystian Korzeniowski (Ferrari) and Richard Gonda/Rudolf Beňo (BMW), while the third row was filled by Jan Matyáš/Roman Roubíček (Praga) and Max Grip/Reinhard Kofler (KTM).
At the start, the HP Racing Lamborghini of McKansy/Tweraser took the lead, chased by the Olimp Racing Ferrari of Korzeniowski and the Aries Racing BMW. The opening lap and crucial first corner went smoothly, but shortly after, Tomáš Miniberger lost control of his KTM and crashed heavily into the barriers, bringing out the safety car for 15 minutes.
When the race resumed, the green HP Racing Lamborghini led the way, followed by the Olimp Racing Ferrari and the Aries Racing BMW.
At mid-distance, the pit window opened, and teams began to make their mandatory stops and in some cases driver changes. During this phase, the Lema Racing Porsche of Domen Jeram/Sandi Jeram slid into the gravel, though the safety car was not deployed.
In the closing stages, there was a heated fight between Maťo Homola (KTM) and Josef Záruba (Lamborghini Super Trofeo). Although they were in different classes, both fought hard, and contact ensued. Homola ended up in the tire barrier, while Záruba spun but managed to continue and headed for a quick pit stop for damage inspection.
Soon after, the Aditis Racing Porsche 911 (Radim Adámek/Petr Čížek) retired, followed by Kálmán Bódis in his Silver Sting and the race eventually finished under full-course yellow.
Miro Konopka crossed the line first overall in his Ligier LMP3, winning the D5 class, with Roman Roubíček and Jan Matyáš from JMT Racing team. In GT3, after a strong second half of the race, Gonda and Beňo claimed victory in the BMW M4 GT3. Petr Fulín/Jiří Navrátil finished second, while Antal Zsigo took the final podium spot. Gregor Zsigo/Dennis Waszek came home fourth in a BMW, followed by Jedliński/Korzeniowski in the Ferrari.
In GTX, the win went to McKansy/Tweraser (Lamborghini), ahead of Grip/Kofler (KTM, MZR Motorsportzentrum Ried). Third place went to another KTM, driven by Ondrej Rokos/Petr Liška.
The GTC1 class for Porsche Cup cars was won by Robert Lucák Jr./Dan Skalický, who finished seven seconds ahead of Bob Bau. Third went to Jan Birsa, who had initially led but was penalized 108 seconds for pitting outside the window.
In GTC, victory went to Knoll/Záruba (Mičánek Motorsport). In GT4, Lema Racing celebrated with three cars in the top four. The win went to Miha Primožič/Matthias Lodi (Mercedes), ahead of Petr Koukola/Václav Janík (Aston Martin). Grega Simunovic/Zak Simunovic finished third in their Audi, while Iztok Armic/Niko Pulić brought their Porsche home in fourth.
