The GT Cup series opens the 2025 season this weekend at the Red Bull Ring. Qualifying kicked off today’s endurance events, with the fastest of more than 30 cars being the KTM X-BOW GT2 driven by the duo Rupert Atzberger and Reinhard Kofler from the MZR Motorsportzentrum Ried team.
The Austrian pair dominated the GTX class, which consists primarily of KTM race cars. Their teammate Jack Russel secured second place in the GTX class, while Christian Wimberger took third with his Lamborghini Huracán.
Second overall and quickest in the GT3 class were Antal Zsigo and Max Hesse from the Racing Trevor team, sharing a BMW M4 GT3 Evo. They can expect intense competition from another BMW M4 GT3 from Aries Racing, driven by Rudolf Beňo and Richard Gonda, who qualified third overall. The third position in the GT3 class went to the Polish duo Piotr Wira and Mateusz Lisowski, racing a Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo, while fourth place was taken by Dennis Waszek and Gregor Zsigo in a BMW M6 GT3.
The GTC class was dominated by Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba, driving a Lamborghini SuperTrofeo for the Mičánek Motorsport team. In the GTC1 class, designated for Porsche cup cars, Bob Bau from Trencar Racing was the quickest.
Spectators can look forward to an exciting battle in the GT4 class. A notable new entry is the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 from Janík Motorsport, driven by Václav Janík and Jan Matyáš, who qualified fastest in their class. They were followed by three Mercedes GT4 cars: Primožič-Lodi from Lema Racing, Lacko-Mikeš, and Hudec-Nedoma from Buggyra ZM Racing. Behind them was the father-and-son duo Pavel and Troy Sovička with a Lotus Emira from Blue Garage Racing, and Kosohov driving a Porsche Cayman from GT Sports Technology.
