Polish driver Krystian Korzeniowski from Olimp Racing dominated the GT3 class in Race 1 of the GT Cup at Slovakia Ring. In other categories, Dennis Waszek claimed victory in GTX with a Lamborghini, while Grega Simunovic took the GT4 win in a Mercedes.

On the front row, Miro Konopka (Ligier LMP3) lined up in front of Korzeniowski (Ferrari), with his main GT3 rivals Petr Fulín (Audi) and Rudolf Beňo (BMW) starting just behind.

Korzeniowski managed to outdrag Konopka’s Ligier at the start, but the prototype was clearly faster than the GT3 car and Konopka soon retook the lead overall. That had no effect on the class battle, however and Konopka remained out front in D5, while Korzeniowski controlled the GT3 category, pulling well clear of his rivals. Fulín slipped behind Beňo in the fight for second in GT3 and struggled to match his pace. In the closing stages, Fulín had Dennis Waszek (Lamborghini) filling his mirrors, but since they were in different classes, Waszek had no need to attack.

In the end, Konopka secured a comfortable D5 class victory, while Korzeniowski won the GT3 class ahead of Beňo and Fulín. GTX was dominated by Waszek from GT2 Motorsport in his Lamborghini Super Trofeo, with Coach McKansy finishing second (Lamborghini) and Jack Russel third (KTM) in GTX.

The GTC1 class went to Bob Bau (Porsche), ahead of Kálmán Bódis (Porsche). In GT4, Grega Simunovic took the win in a Mercedes with Petr Koukola (Aston Martin) second and Andrej Marakovic (Mercedes) third.

Zdeno Mikuláško and Filip Sládečka also took part in the race with Lamborghini Huracán cars and finished high up the order, but they were not part of the official GT Cup field.
