The GT Cup Series is heading to the famous German race track Lausitzring this weekend. After the special 3-hour endurance race at Slovakia Ring, the series returns to its traditional format of two sprint races and one endurance race.
Lausitzring made its debut on the GT Cup Series calendar last year, and drivers welcomed the addition of the German circuit. Now they look forward to returning to the facility, which also includes an oval section, partially used in the standard road course layout.
The race weekend begins on Friday and concludes on Saturday, giving drivers a free Sunday. Friday will focus on endurance, starting with qualifying followed by the race in the afternoon. Saturday is all about the sprint races, with qualifying and Sprint 1 taking place in the morning and Sprint 2 scheduled for early afternoon.
The entry list features GT3 cars from Good Speed Racing and Racing Trevor. Piotr Wira will drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3, while Antal Zsigo and Max Hesse will share a BMW M4 GT3.
GT4 action will be dominated by Czech teams Janík Motorsport and Buggyra ZM Racing. Janík Motorsport will field an Aston Martin for the sprint races, while Buggyra ZM Racing will enter two Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars for sprints and endurance, one for Miroslav Mikeš and Aliyyah Koloc, and the other for Filip Nedoma and Adam Lacko.
In the GTC1 class for Porsche Cup cars, Bob Bau will represent MZR Motorsportzentrum Ried, while the family duo Robert Lucák and Robert Lucák Jr. will race for the DCR Team.
The largest field is in the GTX class, with three KTM X-BOW GT2 cars entered by MZR Motorsportzentrum Ried for Max Grip, Jack Russel, and Marius Aigner. Dennis Waszek brings his Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and Antonín Herbeck is generating high expectations as he debuts his new Ferrari 488 after many years racing a Pagani Zonda.
For the endurance race only, Racing Trevor will also enter a second car. Gregor Zsigo will once again be behind the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3. Meanwhile, Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba are aiming for another win in the GTC class with their Lamborghini Super Trofeo.
