The 2025 season of the GT Cup Series gets underway this weekend at Austria’s Red Bull Ring, with nearly 30 sports cars set to take on the high-speed, power-hungry circuit that also puts heavy demands on braking performance.

Fans can look forward to a packed weekend of action, featuring a Saturday endurance race and two sprint races on Sunday. All races will feature a diverse grid of cars from various categories, promising exciting battles throughout the field.

In the premier GT3 class, the spotlight will be on the rivalry between German marques. Good Speed Racing has entered a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Piotr Wira, a returning competitor with past experience in the series. On the other side are two BMW M4 GT3 entries: Racing Trevor brings the car for reigning GT3 champion Antal Zsigo and BMW factory driver Max Hesse, while Aries Racing fields a car for Rudolf Beňo, last year’s GT4 champion, who will be joined by Richard Gonda for the endurance race. They will be also joined with Gregor Zsigo with BMW M6 GT3 in endurance.

The GT4 class is particularly strong this year, with a rich variety of cars. GT Sports Technology enters a Porsche Cayman for Oleksandr Kosohov, while Blue Garage Racing fields a Lotus Emira GT4 driven by Troy and Pavel Sovička. A brand-new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 from Janík Motorsport will debut with Václav Janík and Jan Matyáš behind the wheel. Three Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars will also be on the grid: one entered by Lema Racing for Andrej Makarovič, and two from Buggyra ZM Racing, with lineups of Martin Hudec and Filip Nedoma, and Adam Lacko and Miroslav Mikeš. Lema Racing will also contest the endurance race with drivers Niko Pulić and Mathias Lodi.

The GTC1 class, reserved for Porsche 911 Cup cars, features local representation. Richard Woschitz (Koglebauer Motorsport) and Bob Bau (Trencar Racing) will be among the main contenders. In the endurance race’s GTC class, reigning champions Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba return in a Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

The GTX class promises pure action with a wide variety of entries. Team 78Racing fields two Lamborghini Huracáns for Alexander Ober and Christian Wimberger. The MZR team is going all-in with four KTM X-Bows for Jack Russel, Marius Aigner, Max Grip, and Rupert Atzberger—who will share his car with Reinhard Kofler in the endurance race. Another KTM X-Bow comes from Carin Racing, with Viktor Mráz and sim racer Jaroslav Honzík teaming up for endurance. Rounding out the GTX class is Antonín Herbeck in his unique Pagani Zonda, entered by Rock Robots.

In the prototype class, Miro Konopka returns with his Ligier for ARC Bratislava, joined by Alex Tlustý in a Praga R1.

The entire race weekend will be live-streamed. The endurance race takes place on Saturday, followed by two sprint races on Sunday—one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
