The GT Cup Series is heading to the Racing Journal Speed Fest at Autodrom Most this weekend 26th – 27th July, promising a spectacular show for the summer weekend with a highly competitive grid.
The championship has already made stops at the Red Bull Ring, Slovakia Ring, and Lausitzring. The season opened with a strong field at the fast Austrian circuit, giving early hints as to who might be contending for trophies and titles this year. The next race weekend at the Slovakia Ring took a different turn – instead of the usual 25-minute sprint races, the event featured a three-hour endurance race that concluded on Saturday evening. After the stop at Lausitzring, the series now moves to Autodrom Most this weekend.
In the GT3 category, BMW continues to dominate both the sprint and endurance formats. Antal Zsigo leads the sprint standings, while Gregor Zsigo is ahead in the endurance championship. However, in Most, they’ll face stiff competition from Piotr Wira in a Mercedes, Rudolf Beňo in another BMW, and local favorite Petr Fulín, who will be behind the wheel of his silver Audi R8 GT3 LMS.
The GT4 class is shaping up to be incredibly competitive. Buggyra has launched its “Face Off” program, fielding two Mercedes cars with driver duos Filip Nedoma–Adam Koloc and Miroslav Mikeš–Alyyah Koloc. This internal rivalry naturally plays out on track, where they are also challenged by Aston Martin GT4 from Janík Motorsport. Other cars in the mix include Pavel Sovička’s Lotus Emira, Mykhailo Kohan’s Porsche Cayman, and a pair of Mercedes-AMGs from Lema Racing team.
The GTC and GTC1 cup classes are currently dominated by Lamborghini and Porsche machinery. In GTC endurance, the reigning champions Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba are off to a perfect start, turning every race entry into a win. Similarly, Austrian driver Bob Bau is undefeated in GTC1 sprint races. However, in Most, he’ll face challenges from Karel Neffe of GT Sports Technology and Robert Lucák from Team DCR.
The GTX category promises thrilling racing with a large and diverse field of cars. After two rounds, the sprint standings are extremely tight. Dennis Waszek leads the way with his Lamborghini SuperTrofeo, closely followed by Max Grip in a KTM X-BOW GT2. While Grip hasn’t yet clinched a victory this season, he’s consistently finished on the podium. He’ll be joined at MRZ Motorsportzentrum Ried by Jack Russel and Marius Aigner, both also driving KTM machinery.
Challenging them will be Czech squad RTR Engineering. Tomáš Miniberger will compete in a KTM X-BOW GT2, while Ondřej Rokos and Petr Lisa will team up in a Mercedes-AMG GT2. GTX will also feature Antonín Herbeck in a Ferrari 488, along with Adam Konopka in a Lamborghini and Miro Konopka driving an LMP3 prototype in D5 class.
