The GT Cup Series is set to break new ground with a special endurance event at Slovakia Ring on June 6th, 2025. The championship will feature an extended three-hour endurance race that also incorporates the FIA CEZ 1hour classification as its opening phase.
Triple points will be awarded in each category, with 75 points on the table for the winning team—three times the usual 25-point payout. This could play an important role in the overall championship standings.
To help teams prepare, Thursday has been designated as a test day, giving competitors valuable time to familiarize themselves with the circuit and refine their setups. Further adjustments can be made during Friday’s free practice session ahead of qualifying. The extended format of the race demands precise planning in terms of driver rotation, tire management, and pit strategy.
The first hour of the race will be run under FIA CEZ regulations, including a mandatory pit stop. After the initial 60 minutes, the event transitions into an endurance format with open pit stop strategy, allowing teams to manage fuel, tire changes and driver swaps as they see fit.
Refueling is one of the most discussed aspects of the event. Teams may choose to refuel either at the designated refueling zone at the end of the pit lane, where manual methods like dump cans are permitted, or directly in front of their garages using ATL-style towers. Regulation allows to use refuelling rigs. These flexible refueling options add yet another layer of strategy to what promises to be a memorable weekend of GT racing.
