The exclusive Maserati GT2 race car is set to expand its presence across various European championships, including the GT Cup Series, which proudly welcomes the legendary brand to its starting grid.
The high-performance racing supercar Maserati GT2 has successfully brought the iconic Trident marque back into closed-wheel competitions. The car is suitable to take part in championships around the world, thus expanding the choice for gentleman drivers and teams who wish to get behind the wheel and compete alongside Maserati performance.
“We’re very proud we can further increase the range of competitions in which Maserati GT2 can participate,” said Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse.
“We promised we would return to closed-wheel racing and we did so, reaping a season of great successes; now, not only are we continuing to rack up victories but – most of all driven by all the requests we receive every day – we are also extending the competitions to the ones we can take part in. Maserati is synonymous with the track, where it was founded almost 100 years ago. All we can do is therefore to create opportunities to add more names to our glorious trophy haul.”
The GT Cup Series, a well-established championship in Central Europe, becomes one of the platforms for the Maserati GT2, particularly through its open GTX category designed specifically for unique and specialized GT race cars.
“We are thrilled to welcome Maserati to our championship and we look forward to the moment this legendary brand will take to the track alongside our regular competitors,” said Ing. Leonard Hrobárek, Team Relations & Operations Coordinator.
“The presence of Maserati further elevates the prestige of our series, offering fans, drivers, and teams an opportunity to experience racing at the highest level. This cooperation is a testament to our championship’s growth and reputation, and we look forward to unforgettable moments and battles on some of Europe’s finest racetracks.”
The GT Cup Series hosts race events at iconic circuits such as the Red Bull Ring, Slovakia Ring, Lausitzring, Autodrom Most and Brno. Open to multiple classes of sports car racing, the series provides diverse opportunities for drivers and teams to compete in an exciting racing environment.
