The new GT Cup season is approaching quickly. Kicking off at the Red Bull Ring in mid-May, the championship will visit six circuits through May toSeptember, showcasing sports cars across several categories.
The 2025 GT Cup season begins a new chapter from May 16–18 at the popular Red Bull Ring, a venue that has become a regular fixture on the calendar. Fans can look forward to the traditional format featuring two sprint races and one endurance event.
The starting grid promises variety, spanning multiple categories. At the pinnacle sits the prestigious GT3 category, specialized racing cars frequently seen competing globally. The familiar GT4, GTC, GTC1, and GTX categories will also return, offering a diverse mix that attracts professional drivers, amateurs, and young talents alike.
In GT3, we will see a battle between BMW and Lamborghini. Gregor Zsigo and Antal Zsigo are set to race with the BMW M4 GT3, with Antal joined by BMW works driver Max Hesse in Endurance race. Their main competitor will be Miro Konopka in a Lamborghini Huracán. Šenkýř Motorsport is also on the entry list with a BMW M4 GT3.
In the GTC category, Czech racer Dennis Waszek will be back behind the wheel of his trusted Lamborghini Huracán for the GT2 Motorsport team. However, he’s already considering replacements for the aging model. Meanwhile, the Mičánek Motorsport duo, Josef Záruba and Jakub Knoll, will compete in endurance races with a newer generation of the Huracán, aiming to defend their title from last year.
The GTC1 class also features cup-spec vehicles, but exclusively from Porsche. The field of Porsche 911 models grew significantly last season, among the competitors will be Austrian driver Richard Woschitz, representing Team Kogelbauer, and Bob Bau from Trencar Racing.
Buggyra ZM Racing returns to the GT Cup, regularly entering two Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars. The experienced Adam Lacko and the talented Aliyyah Koloc will drive for the team and also mentor young prospects from the Buggyra Academy – Filip Nedoma and Miroslav Mikeš. Pavel Sovička from Blue Garage Racing will race with a Lotus GT4, while two more cars – an Aston Martin from Janík Motorsport and a Porsche Cayman from GT Sports Technology – are also signed up for the race.
Continuing the tradition of diverse machinery, the GTX category will again host a mix of race cars. Alexander Ober and Christian Wimberger will race a Lamborghini Huracán from 78Racing-Team. Janík Motorsport will enter a KTM driven by Václav Janík and Petr Koukola. Another KTM entry comes from MZR Motorsportzentrum Ried, which has previously raced in the GT Cup, featuring drivers Max Grip, Marius Aigner, and Jack Russel. Carin Racing is heading back to the GT Cup with a KTM driven by Viktor Mráz and Maťo Homola. The legendary Pagani Zonda from the Rock Robots team, with Antonín Herbeck behind the wheel, will also be part of the GTX category field.
