The GT Cup Series continued last weekend with its penultimate round of the season. Automotodrom Brno welcomed a packed grid and in both the sprint races and the endurance contest, the gaps at the finish were measured in tenths of a second.
Masaryk Racing Days at Brno served up a true motorsport feast. The GT Cup grid was joined by cars from the P9 Challenge and Sports Car Challenge, bringing nearly forty race machines to the sprint races. Fans were treated to wheel-to-wheel battles right up to the chequered flag.
Among the entrants was BMW factory driver Jesse Krohn, who made the trip from Finland to race with the Racing Trevor team. In the first sprint, he took the wheel of a BMW M4 GT3 and dominated his class from start to finish – topping qualifying and leaving no chance for his rivals in the race. Second place went to Piotr Wira in a Mercedes-AMG, who together with teammate Mateusz Lisowski later shone in the endurance race. Lisowski snatched victory in the closing minutes by overtaking leader Rudolf Beňo. The Slovak driver win in Sunday’s sprint, where he narrowly held off Petr Fulín in an Audi R8, the margin at the line was just 0.110 seconds.
The GT4 class was no less dramatic, with Buggyra ZM Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT4s going head-to-head against Šenkýř Motorsport’s BMW M4 GT4s. Adam Lacko took the first sprint ahead of teammate Martin Hudec, while the second sprint went to Šenkýř driver Dobroslav Kárník. The results sheet shows just how close the battle was: Kárník’s winning margin over Miroslav Mikeš was a mere 0.091 seconds, with third-placed Matyas Faireisl just 0.837 seconds behind. In the one-hour endurance race, Lacko and Mikeš came out on top, finishing only 0.836 seconds ahead of Kárník, whose teammate Faireisl trailed him by just 0.196 seconds.
While GT3 and GT4 produced nail-biting finishes, GTC was completely dominated by Mičánek Motorsport and its pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeos. Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba took victory in the endurance race, while Bronislav Formánek won the first sprint and Záruba the second. In GTC1, Robert Lucák and Bob Bau shared the sprint victories, with Lucák adding another win in the endurance race.
In GTX, both sprint wins went to Dennis Waszek in his Lamborghini Super Trofeo, beating the KTM challengers of Max Grip and Jack Russel. The endurance race was won by the KTM duo of Maurus Aigner and Reinhard Kofler.
The GT Cup Series will now move to Hungary’s Balaton Park Circuit for the grand finale – the last stage on the 2025 racing season.
