This weekend at the Slovakia Ring will be a special one for the GT Cup Series. The circuit will host a three-hour endurance race, putting drivers to the test with longer stints and higher demands in hot weather conditions. Free practice began today, with Miro and Adam Konopka setting the fastest time overall in their LMP3 Ligier.

The GT Cup Series will feature this extended three-hour endurance format, and triple points will be awarded in each category. That means 75 points are up for grabs for the winning team, three times the usual 25-point payout, which could have a major impact on the overall championship standings.

In the afternoon practice session, the LMP3 Ligier from ARC Bratislava dominated the timesheets. However, BMW factory driver Max Hesse, set to share a BMW M4 GT3 with Antal Zsigo, was just 0.211 seconds behind.

The father-and-son duo Konopka also entered with a Lamborghini Huracán GTX and went third quickest in the session. Piotr Wira tested alone and placed fourth overall, second in the GT3 class. Third in GT3 were Gregor Zsigo and Dennis Waszek. Just behind them in a KTM X-BOW were local drivers Viktor Mráz and Maťo Homola.

The best-placed car in the GTC class was the Lamborghini Super Trofeo driven by Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba. Roman Roubíček followed in a Praga R1, and ninth overall were Radim Adámek and David Dziwok. Rounding out the top 10 were Václav Janík and Petr Koukola in an Aston Martin GT4.
