The GT Cup Series continued this weekend with the second round of the season at the Slovakia Ring—this time as a special standalone three-hour endurance race without sprints. The demanding event was won overall by Zdeno Mikuláško and the father-son duo Miro and Adam Konopka, driving a Ligier LMP3.
Zdeno Mikuláško took the early lead in the overall standings with the Ligier LMP3, followed by the BMW M4 GT3 driven by BMW factory driver Max Hesse. Behind him was Gregor Zsigo in an older BMW M6 GT3, who was scheduled to share driving duties with Dennis Waszek and another BMW factory driver, Jesse Krohn.
Gregor Zsigo was eventually overtaken by Piotr Wira in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 and by Miro Konopka in a Lamborghini Huracán GTX. Konopka alternated stints in the Lamborghini with his son Adam and Zdeno Mikuláško, as the same trio also raced together in the Ligier LMP3.
In the GTC class, Jakub Knoll and Josef Záruba led the field in a Lamborghini Huracán. David Dziwok was quickest in the GTC1 class in a Porsche 911, followed by the crew of Dan Skalický, Robert Lucák, and Robert Lucák Jr.
The GT4 class was led by the Mercedes-AMG GT4 of Ivan Potěž, Mathias Lodi, and Miha Primožič. Trailing them were Václav Janík and Petr Koukola in an Aston Martin GT4.
Despite threatening rain from dark clouds hanging over the circuit, the weather held off and the entire race was run on dry tarmac.
The first hour of the race also counted toward the FIA CEZ championship, with five teams competing only in the one-hour event. Among them were Adámek–Dziwok, Knoll–Záruba, Janík–Koukola, Piotr Wira, and Roman Roubíček in a Praga R1, all concluded their race after 60 minutes.
The remaining field continued racing into the evening. The dominant trio of Mikuláško and the Konopkas crossed the finish line first overall after 88 laps and claimed victory in the D5 class. They also won the GTX class, in which they raced the Lamborghini Huracán.
In the GT3 category, victory went to the Racing Trevor team of Gregor Zsigo, Dennis Waszek and Jesse Krohn. The GTC1 class was won by the Porsche 911 Cup crew of Skalický and the Lucáks. GT4 honors were taken by the Lema Racing team, which secured the top two positions: Potěž, Lodi, and Primožič won, followed by Pulič, Makarovič, and Armič. Lema Racing also triumphed in the TCC class, where Banjeglav and Belini won with a Clio Cup car.
